The USB connector type is determined by its shape. A Micro connector is a durable, miniaturised connector about half the thickness of a Mini USB. The Micro connector was designed for connecting small, slimline mobile devices such as smartphones and digital cameras to a host PC such as a desktop computer, laptop, netbook or tablet. USB 2.0 Micro B plug connectors are compatible with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 Micro B ports or receptacles, however, a USB 3.0 plug will only mate with a USB 3.0 receptacle due to the difference in shape.

This USB cable is used for connecting a small mobile device to a host PC. A USB cable allows digital data to be transferred from a peripheral device to a host PC and for supplying power to devices that need it, for instance, charging a mobile phone. The cable consists of four wires that are used separately for transferring power and data.
