The Renesas Electronics are Bi CMOS 3.3V powered, ±15kV ESD, 5V, Full Fail-Safe, 1/8 Unit Load, single transceiver that meet both the RS-485 and RS-422 standard for balanced communication. these devices have very low bus current and it allows up to 256 transceiver on the network without violating the RS-485 specification, 32 unit load maximum and without using repeater. Slew rate limited versions also include receiver input for filtering to enhance noise immunity. Data for all meters is then read out from a single access port or a wireless link. receiver (Rx) inputs feature a “full fail-safe” design, which ensures a logic high Rx output.
