RS PRO Bench/Floor ESD-Safe Mat, 1.2 m x 600 mm x 2 mm
ESD safe mats are designed to help prevent damage to sensitive items and assemblies from Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). These mats from RS PRO are a must-have for any EPA (ESD protected area) cleanroom as the mats drain static charge, ground the electronic item, and protect surfaces from wear.
The ESD-safe mats are made from anti-static neoprene rubber that offers solder iron resistance. Black in colour, they have an embossed surfaced texture and low reflectivity to reduce strain on the eyes. These mats are easy to clean. They conform to IEC 61340-2-3 and IEC 61340-4-1, which are the recognised international standards for EPAs.
Anti-static mats are commonly used on benches and floors of workshops or advanced laboratories for microelectronic industries such as electronic semiconductor devices, electronic computers, and integrated circuits, for the protection of personnel and equipment.

Why is it important to be ESD safe?
ESD safe mats help to create an ESD protected area (EPA). This is a defined space where all surfaces, objects, people and ESD Sensitive Devices (ESDs) are kept at the same electrical potential.
