Fluke Temperature Probe, 1090°C Maximum Temperature Measurement, Type K Sensor - 80PK-22

This temperature probe is a general-purpose immersion sensor designed for liquid, gel and general temperature measurement in industrial and HVAC contexts. It uses a Type K thermocouple sensor housed in an Inconel sheath with a miniature connector and a 1m cable, enabling connection to instruments that accept Type K inputs and cold-junction compensation.

Features & Benefits

• Type K thermocouple delivers wide temperature coverage for varied environments
• ±2.2°C accuracy provides dependable readings in common ranges
• Measures from -40 to 1090°C for broad process monitoring
• 3.2mm diameter sheath minimises response LAG during immersion
• Mini plug thermocouple 1m cable allows Compact connectivity
• Welded junction increases robustness for repeated immersion use

Applications

• Suitable for HVAC system temperature verification and commissioning
• Ideal for industrial process temperature checks in liquids and gels
• Used with data loggers and handheld meters that accept Type K inputs
• Can be used for electrical enclosure thermal surveys where probe access is needed
• Suitable for laboratory general-purpose temperature measurement tasks

What material protects the sensing element and why is it chosen?

The sheath is Inconel (Alloy 600), selected for oxidation and corrosion resistance at elevated temperatures.

How should I insert the probe to reduce measurement error from the sheath?

Immerse the probe at least 6.35 cm to reduce thermal shunting and improve junction responsiveness.

What limits apply to the handle and cable when measuring high temperatures?

The handle and connector must not be exposed above 125°C while the tip may see temperatures up to 1090°C.

How fast does the sensor respond to a step temperature change?

The time constant in 100°C still water at sea level is 3.0 seconds with full step change completing in about 3.75 seconds.

Can it be used where sulphur is present at high temperatures?

The Inconel sheath resists many corrosive environments but should not be used in sulphur-containing atmospheres above 537°C.
