Eaton Miniature Circuit Breaker, 1 Pole, Type B - PXL Series - PXL-B16/1

Looking for reliable overcurrent protection that's independent of the mains voltage? This Eaton single-pole MCB (miniature circuit breaker) interrupts short circuits and reduces damaging overload current. You can easily install it in distribution boards and switch circuits thanks to its quick-fit action with three locking positions for top-hat rail IEC and EN 6071. It also features dual terminals, which are compatible with both busbars and cables. A red-green indicator makes it easy to identify the contact position, which increases safety and protects the operator.

• Rated to 400V and 48V DC at 16A for versatility

• Type B tripping characteristic gives instantaneous trip when the current through the device is 3 to 5 times the rated current

• Compact size of 60 (W) x 17.5 (L) x 80mm (D) for easy handling

• Toggle is finger-proof and back-of-hand-proof to avoid accidental tripping

Where can I use this MCB?

Type B trip curve MCBs are designed to protect circuits with equipment that doesn't cause surge current, like lighting and distribution circuits. They are widely used for residential applications and domestic appliances.

Eaton Miniature Circuit Breakers (MCBs) - PXL Series - Single Pole Type B

The PXL series of type B miniature circuit breakers (MCBs) from Eaton's xPole range of MCBs features high quality overcurrent protection that is independent of the mains voltage. These single pole MCBs provide short-circuit interruption that reduces the let-through electrical energy and overload currents that can damage the circuit. The MCB has high selectivity as a pre-fuse with low passband energy. The modular design makes for simple installation of these MCBs into distribution boards and switch circuits whilst additional modules can also be added.

Features and Benefits

• Single pole miniature circuit breaker (2 and 3 pole variants also available)

• Indication of the contact position is easy to identify due to a "red-green" indicator, to increase safety and offer protection for the operator

• The circuit breaker features dual terminals which are compatible with both busbar and cables

• The device is easy to use, with a simple colour coded toggle

• The appliance has a double terminal, lift/jaw top and bottom and free selection of rail arrangement top and bottom

• Easy installation with modular design

• Finger-proof / back-of-hand-proof

• Quick-fit action with 3 locking positions for top-hat rail IEC / EN 6071

• High breaking capacity

• Current limiting feature for enhanced safety and reliability of the electrical system

• Current rating from 0.5 to 63 Amps

Uses and Applications

The Eaton Miniature circuit breakers (or MCBs) are switchgear for use in industrial, advanced commercial and residential applications.

What are the differences between the Tripping Curves?

Type B: Instantaneous trip when the electrical current through the device is 3 to 5 times the rated current. The type B trip curve MCBs are designed for standard circuit protection, typically protection of generators, persons and very long cables

Type C: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 5 to 10 times the rated current.

Type C trip curve residential and domestic MCBs are used for higher inrush currents such as in machines and lighting, providing overload protection of circuits and other consumer units.

Type D: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 10 to 14 times the rated current.

D curve MCBs are suitable for inductive and capacitive loads like transformers condensers. and electric motors.

Type K: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 10 to 14 times the rated current.

Type K curve MCBs are suitable for inductive loads like transformers, condensers. and electric motors.

Type S: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 13 to 17 times the rated current.

Suitable for applications where high levels of inrush current are expected. The high magnetic trip point of type S curve MCBs prevents nuisance tripping in high inductive applications such as motors, transformers and power supplies.

Type Z: Instantaneous trip when the flow-through current is 2 to 3 times the rated current.

Z curve MCBs are intended for use in electrical circuits that require a very low short circuit trip setting, for example, semiconductors.
