It's a two-part component with a photocell detector and controller that turn the lights on and off depending on the time of day. The detector is housed in a robust polycarbonate casing that's resistant to impact, so you can use it in harsh conditions. As it consumes just 0.6W of power, this is an energy-efficient solution. This lighting controller is self-extinguishing, so it will stop burning within a short time when a fire occurs. It's also flame-resistant and can help reduce the spread of fire.

Daylight Lighting Controllers

These controllers automatically turn lights 'ON' and 'OFF' in response to changes in ambient light levels, primarily the transition from day to night and vice-versa. The more advanced types (see note below) have inbuilt logic to minimise false triggering, whereas the remainder have inbuilt time delays or higher 'OFF' thresholds, to prevent on/off cycling. As a general rule, these controllers should be sited such that they are not illuminated, by the light they are controlling. These are: dusk, the middle of the night, dawn and the middle of the day.
