The Banner emitter has a column of infrared light emitting diodes (LEDs) spaced 5 mm apart, their light is collimated and directed toward the receiver, positioned opposite the emitter, which has photodiodes on the same 5 mm pitch. The light from each emitter LED is detected by the corresponding receiver photodiode.
