RS PRO, M6, Zinc Plated Steel Nylon Insert Lock Nut
These zinc-plated lock nuts from the RS PRO range are an effective alternative to Aerotight® fasteners. They're ideal for use in industrial, mechanical and railroad settings and are typically used by DIY motor enthusiasts, builders, roofers and joiners.
The M6 fastener is comprised of mild steel grade 8.8. The nylon insert tightens when the mating bolt is inserted. This enables it to withstand torque and vibrations. It also handles temperatures up to +250°C making it suitable for use in heat exchangers and is completely sealed, stopping any water, oil, solvents or gas leaking. As they're zinc-plated they are also resistant to rust and corrosion.
These tried-and-tested lock nuts conform to ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standards DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung, or the German Institute of Standardisation) 985, meaning they can withstand tension of up to 800 N/mm².
