An IEC C14 connector is sometimes referred to as a ’cold’ connector. The IEC panel plug is a 3 wire two pole connector, neutral, earth and live. The C14 male connectors have a rated current of 10A and a maximum temperature rating of 70°C. This series of connectors conform to a recognised set of specifications called IEC-60320. The regulations are laid down by the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). This ensures they meet common global design standards.

All of these plugs and sockets have a contact resistance of <10mΩ, and an insulation resistance of >10³MΩ. Their operating temperature is -40°C to +70°C
