8420 Series insulators are open ended tubular rubber sleeves. Factory expanded and assembled on a removable core they are supplied for field installation. Once positioned for installation the core is removed allowing the tube to shrink and create a waterproof seal.
Features and Benefits:
• Easily installed • Suitable for various cable sizes • Torches or heat not required • Good thermal stability • Tight seal • Resilience and pressure remain consistent after years of ageing and exposure • Excellent wet electrical properties • Tough rubber formulation • Waterproof • Fungus resistant • Acid and alkalis resistance • Ozone and ultra violet light resistance
Applications:
• Primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric insulated wire (rubber and plastic) and cable splices with 1000 V rating • Direct burial or submersed • Indoor, outdoor or overhead use • Provides physical and moisture sealing protection for high-voltage air insulated connectors and lugs. Examples - Spacer cable and lug connections to busbar • Secondary splice copper or aluminium conductor insulation • Service relocation • Inline conductor transition connector insulation
