RS Pro Cat5e unshielded twisted pair (UTP) and foiled twisted pair (FTP) patch cords conform to Class D standards. Using high quality stranded cable, these Cat5e cables deliver excellent flexibility and performance. The RJ45 connector plugs contain top grade 50μ gold plating for reduced degradation.
The FTP patch cords benefit from aluminium tape which is used to shield all 4 pairs protecting them from electromagnetic interference (EMI).
These RS Pro Cat5e patch cords are available in several lengths and colours with either a PVC or LSZH jacket.

The choice of which category cable to use is ultimately down to the user. Cat5e will run applications up to 100 MHz, which would be perfect for most workplaces and server rooms which require a constant internet connection for day to day activities.

The choice of shields are between F/UTP and U/UTP. Both would be suitable for most applications, but as a guide, please see the differences between the two.

• F/UTP - This type has an overall foil shield and an unshielded twisted pair wire
• U/UTP - This type Is completely unshielded with an unshielded twisted pair wire
